Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS)

The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is a statutory organization established
in 1972 by an Act of Parliament (Cap 5102) with a mandate to promote
standardization of commodities and their manufacture, production, processing
oreatent and to provide for the verification and calibration of weighing and
measuring instruments and further to provide for matter incidental to or
connected with standardization.

The MBS is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested
persons to fill the following vacancies tenable at Blantyre Office

1\. Vac No. BS/19/20

Job Title*> Quality Monitoring Technician (Imports and Sampling)

Grade*> BS 8

Responsible to*> Senior Quality Monitoring Technician (Imports, Inspection
and Sampling)

Responsible for*> N/A

Number of posts*> Four (4)

Duty station*> Head Office, Mchinji, Chitipa

Job Purpose

To efficiency and effectively implement and sampling activities for imported
products.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

> Registering import inspection requests;
> Conducting industrial quality audits for product certification based on national and international requirements;
> Providing technical advise to the Senior Quality Monitoring Services Technician on matters pertaining to inspection and sampling of imported products;
> Conducting inspecting and sampling of imported products;
> Handling of import samples;
> Conducting Quality Monitoring Market Surveys; and
> Levying on Cess on cessable products.

Minimum Qualifications and experience

The applicant must have

1\. At least a Diploma in Natural Sicences or Engineering obtained from a
recognized institution;

2\. Prior knowledge of quality assurance and certification will be an added
advantage.
