The Diocese of Chikwawa in partnership with Bantwana/World Education
Initiative is implementing a USAID funded Ana Patsogolo Project. The Diocese
of Chikwawa, therefore, seeks to engage the services of well experienced,
highly motivated and suitably qualified persons of Malawi origin to fill the
following position tenable at Chikwawa. The following are the details of the
vacant position

District Case Management Officer

Purpose of the Position*>
The District Case Management Officer will support the Case Management function
and Coordination in provision of comprehensive service to vulnerable children.
The Officer will be responsible for working and collaborating with civil
society organizations (CSOs), district Community Based Services Department,
local agencies and child protection service providers to facilitate
appropriate case identification, assessment, case planning, referrals and
monitoring, and providing technical guidance to field assistants to ensure
vulnerable children and their caregivers are receiving comprehensive OVC
services. The District Case Management Officer will work closely with the
Programme Manager OVC in supporting execution, monitoring and documentation of
project activities.

Specific responsibilities and duties

> Provide guidance and technical advice in appropriate case intervention planning among CSO and FA teams based on identified needs
> Work with sub county Field Assistants and CSO staff in implementation of planned activities/ interventions to ensure adherence to standards and quality.
> Support planning and execution of community dialogue meetings and child protection outreach clinics at community level based on identified child protection needs.
> Participate in developing work plan & schedules with CM and Community Facility Linkages Coordinator to ensure high level of stewardship for all planned activities.
> Coordinate operationalization, functionality and performance of CUG among partners and district stakeholders.
> Support identification of skills gap and training needs in case management, referrals and linkages among CSO staff and FAs.
> Provide oversight and backstopping in training of Consortium partners, CSO staff and Community Resource Persons (CoRPs) including Para Social Workers in Case Management.
> Provide mentorship, support supervision and coaching to FAs, CSO staff and Local government staff (CDOs) in Case Management principles.
> Coordinate identification & meaningful engagement of child protection service providers at district including probation and sub county community development office.
> Collaborate with the CDOs and work with FAs in responding to complex issue that require upward referral and follow up.
> Oversee monthly case conferencing meetings with para social workers and other OVC service providers with in the project area of operation.
> Participate in monthly and quarterly meetings with various partners including SOVCCs and use the forum to network and advocate for meaningful engagement of stakeholders in case management.
> Carry out spot checks and visits to households, schools and areas within the district for effective service delivery to beneficiary households
> Support all Case Management structures (FAs, CSO Staff, PSWs, CDOs and other IP staff) in appropriate case documentation and reporting.
> Work with M&E and CM team to ensure appropriate HH case files are put in place, regularly updated and analyze reported data for compliancy and quality assurance before reporting.
> Provide bi-weekly updates to the case management coordinator at head office

Qualification and skills requirements

> Degree or Diploma in Social work, Development Studies, Education or Community Psychology.
> At least 2 years’ experience in working with Child protection focused projects and OVC programming on large project and experience with USAID funded programs/projects necessary.
> Experience with implementing OVC interventions, knowledge of HIV/AIDS service delivery among positive caregivers and children
> Ability to work autonomously with demonstrated creativity, initiative and commitment.
> Ability to work with multi sectoral external agencies, such as community social services, schools, health facilities, and OVC service providers.
> Possess a high standard of personal and professional integrity
> Willingness to work as a team member, taking on additional tasks as needed to ensure the overall success of the project
> High level of attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work well under pressure in a culturally sensitive environment.
> Strong analytical, organisational and inter-personal skills
> Fluent in oral and written English and excellent writing skills
> Ability to work in a challenging environment, under high pressure and ability to cope with tight deadlines;
> Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
