CAMFED Malawi
The Campaign Female Education (CAMFED) is an international NGO working in
partnership with the Government in the education sector to compliment
government’s efforts in improving the education access and quality. Founded in
1993, CAMFED supports young women throughout their primary and secondary
school years, into economic training and further education, and onto
leadership, as role models; activists and philanthropists. We seek to achieve
this by multiplying educational opportunities for girls and empowering young
women to become leaders of change as the most effective strategy to tackle
poverty and inequality
CAMFED seek to employ technically strong, highly motivated officer to support
programme implementation in Malawi on the post of District Operations Officer.
Job Purpose
To support delivery of educational opportunities for girls and vulnerable
children through implementation of bursaries, Safety Net Funds, the economic
empowerment of Young Women, and other programmes at district level.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
> Promotion, implementation, observance and adherence of child safeguarding in line with CAMFED’s Child Protection Policy in the assigned district.
> Administration of outlined support to targeted recipients i.e. clients, alumnae members, schools, communities and committees in line with CAMFED Procurement and stock management policies.
> Coordinate support to governance structures and activities such as Teacher Mentors, Parent Support Groups, School Based Committees and CAMFED Association committees and chapters.
> Records maintenance for the CAMFED operations in the district.
> Develop the CAMFED Association (an alumnae network of individuals supported by CAMFED) to transform their lives and become leaders of change
> Coordinating all logistical arrangements/support for all district operations in the district.
> Supervising any support to volunteers (to include CAMFED Association Guides and interns).
> Coordinating the production, distribution and regular review of a district timely calendar of events.
> Participate, as a CAMFFD staff member in national. regional and International engagements as requested.
> Production of district monthly operations reports, case studies, research contributions or others.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required
> Excellent knowledge of child safeguarding and education environment in Malawi.
> Ability to motivate and mobilize communities towards supporting children.
> Experience in implement youth (young women) economic development programs.
> Skills in team building, capacity building and evidence based advocacy.
> Flexible and able to prioritise competing work load.
> Good report writing skills.
> Commitment and passion for CAMFED’s values, mission and vision.
> Minimum of a Diploma in relevant field plus 5 years’ experience or Bachelor’s Degree in related field plus 3 years’ experience.
> Must be self-motivated, innovative and able to timely meet the set targets.
> Ability to work with minimum supervision.
