Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation — Malawi (BCM-CFM) is a not-
for-profit organization working in partnership with the Malawi government in
the health sector. Our Mission is to provide high-quality, high-impact, highly
ethical pediatric and family-centered health care, health professional
training and clinical research, focused on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria,
malnutrition and other conditions impacting the health and well-being of
children and families worldwide. The Baylor-Tingathe program was designed in
2008 to respond to suboptimal uptake of PMTCT and pediatric HIV services In
Malawi The program seeks to support Malawi in reaching the ambitious UNAIDS
95-95-95 goals, by improving the identification of HIV-positive persons,
timely treatment initiation, and long-term engagement in care. The program is
funded by USAID, and is currently operating in 7 districts in Malawi. Baylor-
Malawi is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of: POSITION:
HEALTH INFORMATICS OFFICER Location: Lilongwe Reporting to: M&E Lead JOB
SUMMARY This position is responsible for all health informatics related
activities across Baylor Tingathe Outreach program. This includes central
database development and management, and site-based EMR system support. The
Health Informatics Officer will work closely with the M&E team to develop
systems for Tingathe data management and EMR support. SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES Development of a central data repository for all Tingathe-
related program data Management of Tingathe program mobile data collection
tools using SurveyCTO Provide user support, training, troubleshooting,
management, and technical support of all informatics platforms used by
Tingathe (Point of Care EMR, eMastercard system, DHIS2, SurveyCTO) Server
management, database support and backup Create tools and procedures for data
cleaning and conduct regular data quality audits Submit reports to program
lead as needed Create SOPs for data management for Tingathe Programs Work
closely with Program and M&E teams to design and create new initiatives for
data management and database development Any other duties as may be delegated
from time to time. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science,
Management Information Systems, or any other relevant field. At least 3 years
of experience working with healthcare information systems (DHIS2, OpenMRS,
etc.) and data collection applications (SurveyCTO, Open Data Kit, CommCare,
etc.) Proficiency with at least one programming language (SQL, C++, Python,
Java etc) or databases and a strong understanding of computer and programming
logic Knowledge with HTML coding a plus. Intermediate to advanced level of
proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access or PowerBI and good quantitative analysis
skills Experience working with Monitoring and Evaluation, health data
management a plus Project management experience in the private or public
sector, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership, including
living and working in a resource limited setting Strong interpersonal skills,
teamwork, and decision-making skills Strong written and verbal communication
abilities Availability for up to 25% domestic travel to different districts in
the country Experience in community health or global health settings in a non-
governmental organization or USAID funded projects (desirable). APPLICATION
