Saint John of God Hospitaller Services

Saint John of God Hospitaller Services provides both residential and
community-based mental health services, and services for Children with a
disability and/or special needs in the cities of Mzuzu, Lilongwe and their
environs. This is done through inpatient, outpatient and community based
mental health programs: rehabilitation and vocational training for people
recuperating from mental illness, people with disability and other special
needs; special education and community-based rehabilitation for children
with disability of epilepsy. The service also provides university level
training in psychiatric nursing, general nursing, clinical medicine
(psychiatry) and counselling.

PART TIME PLUMBER*>
Position Title: Part-Time Plumber
Location : Saint John of God Hospitaller Services- Mzuzu, Malawi
Reports to : The Human Resource and Administration Officer
Responsible to: The Finance Manager

Purpose of the position*>
Under the general supervision of the Human Resource and Administration
Officer, the part time plumber is supposed to provide all plumbing services to
all departments of our Services including the College.

Responsibilities (which include, but ave not limited to}:

> Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains
Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage
holes. and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers
and levels

> Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring
Full pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges
to detect and locate leaks

> Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.

Requirements

1. Advanced Certificate in Plumbing
2. A minimum of three years’ experience in a busy organisation
3. Those with a Certificate in Plumbing with more than five years’ experience may also be considered
4. Willingness to work with persons with mental health challenges and children with disability and their families.
5. Strict adherence to our Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy.
