ZOMBA DISTRICT COUNCIL
Zomba District Council with support from the American people through US Agency
for International Development (USAID), will over the Course of three years,
implement critical health and social welfare activities at the district level
and contribute to the improvement of HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health
(MCH), Family Planning (FP), Nutrition and Social Welfare service celivery in
Zomba district. To achieve the intended objectives of the government to
government agreement, Zomba District Council intends to hire additional Health
Care and Support Staff workers.
The Council therefore invites suitably qualified Malawians to fill the
following
vacant positions existing in Zomba
Post Disease Control and Surveillance Assistant (Grade M)
salary Within Grace M salary scale segment
Age limit Not older than 40 years
Qualifications
Applicants must be non-serving officers in possession of Malawi School
Certificate
Education (MSCE) with credit in four (4) Science Subjects including English.
Duties
1\. Serve as link between District Health Services and the community and works
directly with village/community leaders, workers, and other volunteers in
providing environmental and personal health services in collaboration with
Medical Assistants, and Enrolled Community Health Nurses.
2\. Conduct community assessments, village inspections, monitors growth and
reports disease outbreaks.
3\. Participate with others in providing immunization, maintaining equipment
and improving the quality of water by protecting shallow wells and
chlorinating untreated water.
4\. Treating minor ailments and facilitates formation and training Of Village
Health Committees (VHC’s) and volunteers
5\. Supervises VHC’s and volunteers and refers patients and suspects to
nearest health unit
6\. Record data in relevant registers and instruments using HMIS guidelines
and disseminate to respective village health committee, and report to the
designated supervisor
7\. Prepares monthly work plans
8\. Provides feedback to the community
Employment Terms
Successful candidates should be willing to be deployed in rural health
facilities
