JOB DESCRIPTION

lllovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is the country’s leading producer of raw, refined
and specialty sugars; employing more than 9000 employees annually. The company
is part of Illovo Sugar Africa Group; a wholly-owned subsidiary of Associated
British Foods Plc (ABF).

Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc – Nchalo Estate invites applications from suitably
qualified persons to fill the following position

QUALITY AND FOOD SAFETY SPECIALIST- 1 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Purpose of the role

Build capability in SHERQ through mentorship and coaching, and implementation
of programs to build competence and commitment across levels and functions.

Minimum requirements

Bachelors’ degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Sciences, with a Sugar
Technology qualification an added advantage.

FSSC 22000, ISO 9001 auditor qualification or equivalent

5-7 years’ experience in food science, with at least 2 years in QC / QA and 2
years’ experience in audit processes related to quality, food safety and GMP

Good communication skills (verbal and written), project management skills,
good working knowledge of all applicable Food Safety regulations and related
authorities; analytical ability and proficiency in MS Office

Key duties

Build capability In SHERQ through mentorship and coaching, and implementation
of programmes to build competence and commitment across levels and functions

Contribute to the development of site SHERQ strategy, standards, processes and
plans, as it pertains to Quality and Food Safety

Support the site In the communication, implementation and entrenchment of
systems, best practices, minimum standards, policies, processes, tools,
technology and enablers; ensuring integration across SHERQ elements to achieve
“Right First Time” and “Positive QA Release” aligned to customer and
regulatory requirements

Define, develop and facilitate quality programs to support the implementation
of the Quality Management system.
