The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the
assessment, collection, and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi
Government is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested
candidates for a job opportunity under its Internal Affairs Division.

Position Investigations Officer

Organizational Unit Internal Affairs

Location Msonkho House Head Office

Grade D1

Reporting to Investigations Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

> Collecting intelligence information on suspected corrupt practices and fraud within the Authority
> Receiving and documenting allegations of corruption, fraud and other malpractices by MRA members of staff.
> Planning, managing and conducting investigations in accordance with the applicable investigative procedures involving preliminary assessment of complaints, interviews of personnel and third parties, review of documentary and electronic information
> Investigating wealth acquired by employees which is not commensurate with employment earnings and declared business interests.
> Preparing cases for prosecution in liaison with Law Enforcement Agencies to deter corrupt and fraudulent practices.
> Attending court sessions to present evidence when required.
> Preparing monthly reports on work progress for monitoring in order to accomplish annual work plans.
> Any other duties as the Investigations Manager shall assign from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have the following qualifications and experience

> Be a holder of at least a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university majoring in Economics, Accountancy, Law, Criminology or any other related field.
> At least five years experience in any investigations function of corruption, fraud and related financial crimes.
> Demonstrate the highest levels of integrity
> Have adequate knowledge of the Malawian Laws
> Certified Fraud Examiners with requisite experience will have an added advantage.

> Be able to work under tight deadlines.

Successful candidates before being appointed will undergo an extensive
background check of their integrity. Only when the vetting exercise is
favourable, the Authority shall make an offer.
