Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is seeking to recruit a dynamic and result oriented
candidate to fill in vacancy of Industry Affairs Manager*> reporting to the
Company Secretary, Corporate Affairs & Legal Head to be based at Limbe. The
successful candidates will be responsible to manage public relations, social
investment and advocacy (trade reputational and operational).
Duties and Responsibilities
*>
1\. COMMERCIAL ADVOCACY
> Trade Advocacy – Negotiate and establish regional and global preferential trading opportunities for sugar within the trading arrangements established in the region as well as through bilateral preferential arrangements with selected countries.
> Promote an equitable and enabling global trading environment for developing and least developed countries
> Industry Regulation (Industry Affairs) – Establish and maintain sugar market regulation that will maintain equitable export market exposure for all industry participants and protect domestic markets against dumped sugar imports. Support mandatory national market arrangements for renewable energy products.
> Sustainability certification/Production Standards – ensure optimal access for Malawian sugar to global markets through participation in appropriate sustainability certification schemes.
2\. STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS
Stakeholder Engagement – develop and implement a stakeholder engagement plan
with Industry regulators involving stakeholder prioritization, mapping,
engagement, narrative development, and stakeholder engagement reporting
Qualification and Experience
> Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Law or Public administration or any related field
> 5 – 7 years’ experience in trade relations, industry affairs stakeholder and government relations
> Understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks in trade and industry
> Clean and valid driving license
