Ladder to Learning
Ladder to Learning (L2L) is a grassroots organization working to amplify the
learning experience of public primary
school students through educational programs that complement the core
curriculum in Malawi. L2L works with
school administrators, parents, teachers, volunteers and other partners in
ensuring that students are literate,
well-resourced and achieving their academic goals.

1\. JOB PURPOSE
The Planning and Resource Mobilization Officer (PRMO) has a key role in
overseeing, planning and coordinating
resource mobilization and leading all fundraising efforts and proposal
writing. S/he uses an entrepreneurial approach
to develop high quality proposals that align with defined priorities,
demonstrate impact, and offer value for
investment to funders. S/he is proactive in identifying new and non-
traditional sources of funding from a range of
donors and works to leverage Ladder to Learning’s funding prospects.
2\. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
> Contribute to the development and implementation of L2L’s resource mobilization plan
> Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities
> Developing and managing relationships with funders
> Writing grant proposals in liaison with other departments.
> Mobilizing financial and in-kind resources from private sector entities, individuals and other members of the Ladder to Learning community.
> Coordinating processing of funding commitments and agreements and ensuring effective and timely follow-up in terms of submission of reports to funders and grant renewal proposals.
> Ensuring that fundraising and resource mobilization information is up to date.
> Assisting the Executive Director in communicating with the Ladder to Learning community including communications via social media, email, television and radio.
3\. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The PRMO will have a commitment to making a difference and will
> Preferably hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration, communication or relevant field
> Experience in resource mobilization or marketing
> Have confidence and the ability to speak boldly; a good all round communicator
> Be able to research the needs of various departments at Ladder to Learning
> Have excellent writing and editing skills, as evidenced by experience in drafting documents for external use, ideally successful fundraising proposals
> Be proactive, initiative-driven and have the ability to get things done;
> Be able to build and maintain successful relationships with funders, partner organisations and other stakeholders
> Have excellent interpersonal, negotiation, marketing and networking skills
> Have budget monitoring and tracking skills
