Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (MUSCCO) has been mandated by
one of its upcoming SACCO in Nkhata-Bay to facilitate the recruitment of a
Cashier.
CASHIER*>
The candidate will be reporting to the Accountant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*>
• Accepting deposits on the counter from members.
• Encashing members deposit withdrawals.
• Disbursing loan proceeds to members.
• Posting transactions into the computer and/ or ledgers
• Keeping cash on hand in a safe manner
• Filing of vouchers and documents
• Opening and closing accounts as approved by the SACCO Accountant.
• Reconciling accounts and ledgers
• Producing weekly, monthly and any other periodic reports as required by the
SACCO Accountant.
• Writing office vouchers (debits and credits)
• Initialing paid vouchers (stamping paid)
• Writing cheques and payment vouchers for SACCO payments
• Arranging and writing bank deposits.
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the SAACO Accountant from
time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS*>
• Malawi School Certificate of Education with credit passes in English and
Mathematics
• Certificate in Financial Accounting from a recognized institution.
• At least two years experience in a similar position.
• Those with experience in Micro- Finance and Banking institutions will have
an added advantage.
