Partners In Hope
Partners in Hope (PIH) is a Malawian NGO based in Lilongwe. In addition to
operating a general clinic, inpatient ward and HIV/AIDS clinic, the program
unit provides support to Ministry of Health and CHAM health facilities in
eight districts from Chitipa to Nsanje. Teams are working to meet the 95-95-95
targets for HIV testing, retention in care and viral load suppression through
training, mentorship, supervision and health systems strengthening.
Partners in Hope under the Care and Treatment Grant is seeking to recruit
highly motivated individuals for the following position
HTS PROGRAM COORDINATOR – LILONGWE (1 POSITION)
Overview
The HTS Program Coordinator (HPC) oversees HIV Testing and Linkage Services in
targeted Scale-up and Sustained districts. S/he is responsible for supervision
and mentorship to HTS supervisors to meet the 95-95-95 treatment targets for
HIV testing, treatment and viral load suppression. She/he is also responsible
for regular reporting, and M&E to ensure quality HTS at health facilities.
Responsibilities
> 90% of HIV+ people are tested and linked to care
> Mentoring and Supervision
> Oversee the work of the PIH HTS Supervisors to ensure HDAs are working to maximum capacity and covering all HTS access points
> Work with MoH District HTS Coordinators to review HTS outputs and adopt remedial action where possible. This will require organizing joint field supervision and review of data.
> Promote PITC, EID and VL testing.l Organize on-the-job training for all PIH HTS Supervisors, HDAs and MoH HTS Counselors to ensure site targets are achieved and that innovative strategies are introduced to increase yield where needed.
> Work with the District Environmental Health Officer (DEHO) and local partners to encourage trained HSAs and HTS Counselors to provide HTS in their catchment areas in order to increase identification of HIV positives and to ensure an effective referral system and mechanisms for HIV positive clients to start treatment
> Work with PIH Team Leads and DPOs to identify sites requiring furniture, equipment or renovations to improve testing space and confidentiality for patients
> Organize quarterly district HTS Review Meetings. Include MoH HTS Coordinators, Share experiences, discuss challenges, identify solutions to barriers to testing, and motivate HDAs
> Travel frequently to the field with HTS Supervisors for site observation and providing feedback and mentorship.
> Work with National DHA-HTS Program Officers to ensure that Proficiency Tests and Quality Controls are conducted according to PIH/MoH work plan and that in-service training is provided for HDAs who are struggling.
Qualifications
a. Required
> Certified HTS Supervisor with a minimum of year experience in supervision and mentorship
> Demonstrated leadership skills
> Fluent in Chichewa and English
> Able to use Word and Excel
b. Preferred
> Degree/Diploma in a health-related field
> Certified Lab Technician
> Strong knowledge and experience in quality assurance (QCs and PTs)
> Ability to function well in a cross-cultural work environment
