Chimwemwe mu’bereki provides home based care to high risk postpartum women and
babies in Malawi. The Program Manager is responsible for the oversight of
daily operations, ensuring efficiency and financial sustainability of the
organization.
Job Requirements
> Set the tone for a collaborative and respectful work environment. All employees have something to contribute. All employees are worthy of respect.
> Ensure adequate funding to support program implementation and development, via grant-writing and marketing of organization to donors.
> Communicate with donors. The program manager is responsible for ensuring that donor agreements are honored, that programs are completed on schedule and within budget, and that all required reports are turned in on time.
> Optimize organizational efficiency.
> Ensure resources (i.e. financial, human, material) are utilized to effectively maximize service to clients in alignment with the mission.
> Network with other organisations with similarly aligned missions to work for the benefit of clients.
> Together with clinical team, develop strategic plan and annual action/work plan.
> Improve systems to track impact/outcomes. Oversee M&E.
> Review monthly activity and financial reports and ensure timely submission to the Director and Board by the 15th of the month.
> Provide financial oversight. Ensure funds are used appropriately and salaries are paid on time.
> Assist with staff management. Review job descriptions, ensure relevance of descriptions and performance/compliance by staff.
> Maintain policies and procedures. Together with the clinical team, ensure that P&Ps are current, relevant, accessible, and respected.
> Ensure that legal requirements for the NGO in Malawi are met, including but not limited to registration with appropriate government offices and timely payment of membership fees (i.e. CONGOMA).
> Communicate with Board of Trustees.
> The Program Manager reports to the Board of Trustees and will participate in regular management calls (with a minimum frequency of once every three months).
Minimum Qualifications
> Preferred educational qualification Master’s Degree in Public Health with 1-5 years experience in program management
> Bachelor’s Degree in related field (i.e. Business Administration, Public Health, Development, Maternal and Child Health, etc.)
> Minimum of 3 years in program management
> Minimum of 5 years experience working in maternal and child health
> Excellent interpersonal skills
> Strong writing skills; successful grant writing experience
> Computer literacy
> Demonstrated ability to problem solve
> Commitment to maternal and child health issues
> Self-motivated
> Detail oriented
