GENERAL MANAGER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates
for the position of General Manager and Head of Human Resources and
Administration in ADMARC Limited.

GENERAL MANAGER

Background

This is the position of the Controlling Officer at ADMARC Limited. It was
until recently known as Chief Executive Officer. The Board at its 112th
meeting of 9th to 10th November 2020 observed that the ADMARC Limited\u2019s
Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association show that this position
was initially known as General Manager and there has been no resolution passed
by the Board ever since to date. Therefore, in order to align the title of the
Controlling Officer to the title used in the Memorandum of Association and
Articles of Association, the Board resolved to revert to the title of General
Manager hence the renaming of the position.

Job Purpose

To provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of
Agricultural and Marketing Corporate policies, work plans and management of
human resources, financial resources, fixed resources and any other resources
as approved and cleared by the Board for the achievement of ADMARC’s
objectives.

To ensure that the economics of the smallholder farmers’ is improved, and
Government’s goals are achieved, ADMARC Limited is looking for a person who
can diligently discharge the following duties

Key Responsibilities and Duties

1\. To be a focal point for Government, Board, Smallholder farmers and Staff
of ADMARC at all times.

2\. Taking a leading role in ensuring that ADMARC Limited delivers on its core
mandate without fail.

3\. Undertaking day to day management of ADMARC Limited, carrying out
consultations, supervision and providing guidance on the activities of all the
departments of the company through their respective Heads and exercising
authority and leadership.

4\. Initiating the formulation of appropriate organizational and management
structures for assurance of optimal efficiency in serving ADMARC Limited’s
stakeholders.

5\. Ensuring efficient, economic, and effective use of the Company\u2019s
resources through prudent prioritization of work plans, activities and control
of Company’s budget.

6\. In consultation with the Board Chairperson, organizing and preparing
agenda and Board papers to facilitate ADMARC Limited’s Board Meetings.

7\. Fostering operational and functional linkage between ADMARC Limited and
stakeholder organisations, Government, Domestic as well as external
Financiers.

8\. Liaising with appropriate Government authorities to discuss, secure
advice, guidance, authorization and\/or decision on the Company’s matters of
major importance.

9\. Ensuring that manpower needs of the Company are met through appropriate
recruitment, remuneration, promotions, staff development and discipline
policies, procedures, systems and levels without jeopardizing the
Company\u2019s survival.

10\. Implementing Board policy decisions timely, reporting to the Board on the
performance of the Company and its affairs and producing and submitting
reports to the Board and Shareholders timely.

11\. Ensuring that effective management systems, procedures and financial
controls are in place to foster effective, economical and efficient use of
Company’s resources.

12\. Always representing the interests of ADMARC Limited, Smallholder Farmers
and Government in all stakeholders for

13\. Monitoring and Evaluating operations and performance of Heads of
Departments and acting accordingly and timely.

14\. Preparing and presenting appropriate reports to the Board and Government
as required from time to time.

15\. Preparing, conducting staff performance appraisals, mentoring staff
directly under him/her and timely acting on hopeless performances.

16\. Become a Trustworthy and Visionary Representative of ADMARC Limited and
its main Stakeholders as a Chairman of the Board of Directors of Auction
Holdings Limited (AHL) and help ADMARC Limited re-engineer the economics and
operations of AHL to become liquid again without fail.

17\. To always act with high professional standards and high sense of
integrity geared at delivering on ADMARC Limited’s Mandate.

Requisite Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

> Good knowledge of Malawi Government policies and strategies;
> Good knowledge of agricultural marketing polices and strategies;
> Knowledge of agricultural marketing logistics, warehouse receipt systems and agricultural insurance;
> Sound knowledge of public financial management, trade, agriculture and employment related legislations;
> Sound strategic thinking, strong advocacy, influencing, analytical, problem- solving interpersonal and communication skills;
> Ability to manage and motivate staff;
> Result- oriented with a desire for quantifiable excellence;
> Good interpersonal and customer service skills;
> Leadership, team building and negotiation skills
> Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
> Extensive management experience at senior level and capable of leading and managing a team of technical and professional staff.
> Computer literate.

Qualifications and Experience

> Minimum of a Master’s Degree in either Business Administration, Business Management, Agribusiness, Operations Management, Strategic Management or Marketing from a recognized University by the Government of Malawi.
> Those with PhD and relevant experience will have an added advantage.
> Minimum of Ten (10) years proven managerial experience at top management level in public or private sector organization.
> Those with Ten (10) years work experience in agricultural commodity marketing will have an added advantage.
> Be of a high moral and ethical character and integrity.
> Results oriented and proven capability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
> Good knowledge of business principles and techniques of administration, organizational skills, management and general understanding of business in local and regional economies.
> Knowledge of strategic and operational planning, economics, marketing and finance.
