Zomba Vocational Training Centre is a registered local non-governmental
organisation started its operations in the year 2009.
The core purpose of an organisation is to suppprt the government in poverty
reduction through education (Skills development) among the youths across the
country.
Therefore applications are invited from suitably qualified,experienced with
strong analytical skills in management of educational sector to fill the
vacant position of Deputy Head of Department for skills development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
> Able to provide leadership and management
> Be able to teach specific courses
> Be able to refresh and develop new programmes inorder to attract new students and markets.
> Be able to ensure the highest levels of quality,integrity and ethics in all research undertaken
> Be able to create a dynamic and forward looking research environment for both staff and students.
> Be able to create exploit new opportunity for knowledge transfer activity inorder to secure additional income streams and new area of teaching and research
> Ensure that departmental human resource policies and procedures are implemented.
> Ensure that staff performance is managed appropriately and in a way that is consistent with the expectations to the organisation and that fair workload allocation processes are in place
> Ensure that all staff have access to the necessary support to enable them to contribute fully and develop their skills and experiences
> Engender culture of excellence,cooperation and respect both within and beyond the department
> Ensure students are included as appropriate in the various decision making for for a within the department
> Ensure that passing rate of students in all international examination boards is mostly desired.
> Able to allocate students for internship in line to course studied
> Ensure a safe and healthy environment for both staff and students,and fully compliance with health and safety requirements
> Take responsibility for devolved budgets and comply with organisation financial regulations.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
> Should have ability to engage constructively with people
> Have excellence communication skills
> Have the ability to manage number of competing demands
> Have an excellent delegation skills
> Be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances
> Be able to develop their skills and seek advices from a variety of sources.
> Be willing and able to exercise judgement and take risk.
> Be able to write proposals for sourcing resources required and in need.
> Be able to monitor and Evaluate performance of all staff members.
> Be able to write monthly reports on performance and submit to Head of department or Programs Manager.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
> Should have a strong accademic records and standing
> Should have 10-12 Years experience in management position at tertiary level
> Highly Preferable retired Personnel in education management system.
> Should be a holder of degree in Education management.
NOTE Those residing in Zomba have more added advantage.
