## Job Description
Project/Proposal Summary
Venture37 anticipates release of a USAID-funded agriculture development
project in Malawi focused on the central and southern regions. This project
will focus on scaling smallholder farms to commercially oriented operations;
while also aligning with the Government of Malawi’s goal to help
agribusinesses diversify Malawi’s agricultural production and in order to
become less dependent on tobacco exports while driving system resilience.
Position Summary
The Youth and Inclusion Manager will be responsible for the development and
oversight of related tasks that ensure inclusion of young and vulnerable
populations in the Malawi Agriculture Activity, and execution of youth-led
initiatives. This role will develop and implement a robust inclusion strategy
that meets the requirements and USAID and Land O’Lakes Venture37 policies,
including developing a youth inclusion and gender strategy, activity plan, and
contributing to a strong learning agenda. The Youth and Inclusion Manager will
also take an active role in adaptive management through active participation
in stakeholder, learning and work planning meetings.
Primary Responsibilities
> Lead the development of the youth and inclusion activity plan and learning agenda and update as necessary throughout the life of the project.
> Provide input on youth and inclusion- focused deliverables, undertaking youth and inclusion assignments and helping field staff apply good inclusion practices.
> Identify youth and gender knowledge gaps and training needs and design training and capacity building opportunities to ensure these needs are met.
> Lead youth and social inclusion analysis for the project.
> Regularly contribute to data collection processes for inclusion indicators, perform data quality assessments, and adjust as needed.
> Undertake regular visits to the field to support implementation of the strategy and to identify where adaptations and improvements might be needed.
> Provide regular updates on project progress against key metrics to the Chief of Party for inclusion in donor reports, work planning and learning events.
> Lead the regular sharing and learning with program staff and partners.
> Assist project staff to use project data to report and disseminate evidence of project work to the wider community, USAID, Land O’Lakes Venture37, and other external stakeholders.
> Demonstrate the highest degree of integrity throughout all activities, and raise any concerns with implementation quality immediately with the Chief of Party.
Required Skills and Qualifications
> A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, agribusiness, international development, gender studies, communications, economics, entrepreneurship or other relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
> A minimum of four (4) years designing and implementing youth integration and empowerment systems, specific to the roles above. Experience with agriculture projects preferred.
> Proven leadership skills training and motivating diverse teams.
> Experienced at implementing youth-led activities and integrating nutrition sensitive approaches into market development activities.
> Demonstrated experience adapting project implementation and activities to achieve objectives and targets as needed.
> Demonstrated ability to collaborate across projects, be flexible, and creative and successfully lead an intercultural team in development and post-conflict contexts.
> Ability to communicate effectively, instilling trust and confidence.
> Excellent interpersonal and written and oral presentation skills.
> Fluency in oral and written English.
