The Law Commission
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant
position of Law Reform Officer, Grade LC5, in the Law Commission.
The Law Reform Officer shall be responsible for Law Reform and will be
reporting to the Chief Law Reform Officer.
Qualification
a. A Master’s Degree in Law and a minimum of 2 years experience; or
b. A Bachelor’s Degree in Law and a minimum of four years’ experience; and
c. Must be a Legal Practitioner with a Valid Practicing Licence.
d. Those with qualifications in Legislative Drafting may have an added
advantage.
Principal Duties Include
1. to assist in the review of the Laws of Malawi to ensure their conformity with the Constitution of Malawi and applicable International law;
2. to carry out research necessary for legislative reforms and hold public consultations on such laws;
3. to participate in Civic Education activities pertaining to various law reform activities of the Commission and the laws of Malawi generally;
4. to participate as resource persons at workshops and seminars to discuss reforms to laws;
5. to contribute to the development of Reports of the Law Commission required to be published and laid before Parliament.
A competitive salary will be offered to the successful candidate in line with
the Law Commission Staff Terms and Conditions of Service.
