The Opportunity
Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel
to fill the position of NRM Field Monitor*> (2 positions) for Titukulane
Project to be based in Zomba. The project will be implemented in Zomba;
covering all Traditional Authorities. The role holder will be responsible for
the provision of technical support in implementation of all Disaster Risk
Reduction activities. S/he shall work with Resilience DRR Technical
Coordinator to strengthening individual, household and community resilience by
strengthening community systems for disaster risk management and natural
resources management, and increasing women’s participation in decision making
structures. He/She will work in close collaboration with the Agriculture Field
Monitor and Marketing Field Monitor in the Titukulane project.
S/he will be representing Save the Children in the Titukulane consortium
working closely with Purpose 3 technical working group and project’s DRR team
in general in implementing activities for the project at district level. The
NRM Field Monitor shall be accountable to Resilience DRR Technical Coordinator
and shall provide progress reports and updates as well as recommendations on
any required changes and adjustments on field activities.
The NRM Field Monitor shall be responsible for supporting development of
monthly, quarterly and yearly detailed program activity implementation plans
including budgets, projections and other appropriate requirements as per
community disaster management (DM) plans. S/He will provide technical support
for conducting baseline surveys, performance evaluation, and impact monitoring
and project end line evaluation. In addition, the ideal candidate will have
demonstrated good knowledge and interest in disaster risk reduction and
emergency programing and be dedicated to SCI mission and values.
Please note that the positions are based in a local village community and
would suit those who are currently living in or close to the implementing
villages; or are comfortable to live there.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
> A minimum qualification of a tertiary certificate in Natural Resource Management, Disaster risk Reduction Agriculture, Climate Change, Community Development or any other related field. Those with a diploma in the related field shall have added advantage.
> At least 4 years of experience in Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency response, Food Security and Livelihood programming.
> A strong understanding of participatory methods, community mobilisation and capacity building including PCVA
> Sound knowledge on participatory Scenario Planning and contingency planning.
> Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving.
> Demonstrated commitment to develop, acquire, document and apply best practices in related fields and apply solutions to obstacles.
> Strong understanding of DRR & Climate Change, Food security and livelihood programmes and rural development.
> Very good supervisory skills.
> Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Word/Excel required.
> Proven ability to follow procedures, meet team objectives and work independently and cooperate with team members and diverse groups of people including government.
> Competence in Microsoft Office with sound report writing skills.
> Valid motorcycle driving license
> Good communication skills; excellent command of written and spoken English
> Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff and community structures.
