_Purpose Purpose*> _
The position exists to implement best practices in safety management system,
procedures, programs and processes to ensure compliance with applicable
international ,local regulatory and company requirements, and to eliminate or
minimize Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) risks to JTI Leaf Malawi factory
and engineering operations. The role works with factory and engineering
sections with all levels of employees.
_Main Responsibilities*> _
> Support the design and implementation of EHS management system including internal control systems, programmes and procedures to achieve the EHS objectives
> Monitor EHS programs and controls to mitigate safety risks associated with the operations of the factory and engineering
> Support the design and implementation of procedures, processes and systems that ensure EH&S risk assessments are conducted and documented for the factory and engineering sections
> Support and provide expertise to ensure that appropriate EHS systems and resources are in place within the factory and engineering premises
> Support the implementation and management of Intergrated Management System (IMS) requirements of their role and comply with the requirements of the IMS Procedures
_Requirements_ :
> University Diploma/Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional qualifications
> Good Knowledge and experience in safety management
> Sound understanding of risk management principles and their application to business
> Detailed knowledge of all functions of the company’s operations
> Fluent in spoken and written English and Chichewa
> Competent in Computer skills
> Effective communication skills to influence personnel at all levels of the company
> Ability to work in a changing environment with minimum supervision
> Organized and independent with good stakeholder engagement skills
