JOB DESCRIPTION
Illovo Sugar Malawi PLC’s Nchalo operations situated 80 km South of Blantyre
invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following
position of SHERQ Officer (Estate Support) in the SHERQ Department.

SHERQ OFFICER — ESTATE SUPPORT

KY DUTIES

Implement the Illovo way of SHERQ performance and related standards, systems,
processes, and applicable legislative requirements and promote SHERQ culture
and awareness.
Support the functional area to effectively implement, comply with and monitor
SHERQ standards and processes, through coaching, guidance and communication
with all relevant stakeholders.
Promote a culture of continuous SHERQ improvement and adherence.
Facilitate SHERQ investigations and coordinate the verification of close-out
actions
Conduct inspections and internal audits to oversee and ensure the adherence to
legislative and Illovo Integrated Risk Management System (IIRMS) requirements
Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including,
without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery
and Corruption (ABC)
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Environmental Sciences/Health or any
related field
Candidates with a qualification in Safety (Samtrac/Nebosh/NOSA) or Quality
Management or related areas will have added advantage
2-3 years’ experience in an operational environment (Factory/Agriculture),
working in a health and safety role.
Candidates must have working knowledge of relevant ISO standards-9000/22000
and Malawi Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare Act legislation
