2\. Job Title Director of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
Grade H3
Term 3 years contract
Reporting to Executive Secretary
Qualifications Candidates must have Master’s Degree in one of the following
fields Social
science, Human Rights and Development and Law. Backed by eight years’
relevant experience of which five must be at management level. Those with
PhD in the above mentioned field or relevant will have added advantage.

Duties
• Full control, coordination and provide leadership and strategic direction of
the Economic,
Social and Cultural Rights Directorate;
• Overall monitoring and co-coordinating of the implementation of the
Directorates’
programmes
• Overseeing the development of tools and materials and capacity building and
knowledge
management activities to strengthen the capacity of the Commission Staff with
regard to
Economic, Social and Cultural rights;
• Handling complaints relating to economic, social and cultural rights through
among other
means conducting investigations; litigation; alternative dispute resolution
and public
inquiries;
• Designing, editing, producing and distributing information, education and
communication
(IEC) materials and other knowledge products, and Planning and implementing
education
and outreach activities, including contributing to updating the Commission
database, on
economic, social and cultural;
• Planning and implementing advocacy and lobbying activities in the area of
economic,
social and cultural rights;
• Conducting review of laws, Bills, Policies, Judicial Decisions and
Administrative
Decisions and practices impacting on economic, social and cultural rights on
compliance
with relevant international and making submissions/recommendations to relevant
authorities;
• Preparing policy proposals, position papers and/or documents, periodic
status of human
rights reports, press releases, with a specific focus on economic, social and
cultural rights;

• Writing and/or reviewing Research and human rights monitoring/assessments
missions
Proposals and Plans and providing Appropriate leadership and directions to
staff to ensure
that Research, Monitoring and assessments and other research related
activities are carried
out effectively;
• Contributing to the preparation and finalisation of the Commission’s
contribution to state
party reports or shadow reports, with a specific focus on economic, social and
cultural
rights;
• Identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities for enhancing the impact of
Commission’s
work, including mobilizing resources such as financial, material and
technical;
• Establish and maintain partnerships/and other working relationships with key
stakeholders
focusing on economic, social and cultural rights;
