The Opportunity

Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel
to fill the position of MEAL Officer*> (1 position) for ProACT Project to be
based in Zomba. The Position holder will be responsible for assisting in
tracking and alerting management as to whether actual results are being
achieved as planned in Pro-Act project. The MEAL Officer will lead in
implementation of program monitoring systems and updating databases for Save
the Children implementation area in Zomba. S/he will work with the UP
Consortium MEAL Manager to develop and maintain the MEAL system for the
project. S/he will lead in SCI district all the research initiatives,
indicator measurement and tracking, data analysis and market assessments. With
UP Consortium MEAL Manager s/he will lead in designing data collection tools,
training of staff in MEAL; ensure data collected is of high quality. S/he will
be the focal point person for beneficiary registration database, onsite
monitoring and PDM data collection exercises. S/he will be the focal point
person for all accountability and learning activities in the project.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be
expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working
hours accordingly

In order to be successful you will bring/have

· At least a Bachelors degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, Environmental,
Agriculture Economics or any other relevant disciplines

· At least one previous years’ experience of working in Monitoring,
Evaluation, Accountability and Learning roles.

· Fluency in English, for effective oral and written communication.

· Experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research

· Experience in developing and managing Ms Access or Excel database and survey
data processing packages like CSpro.

· Experience in working with statistical data packages like STATA and SPSS

· Experience in developing data collection tools and reporting formats

· Experience in developing and working with Access or Excel database.

· Previous experience of successfully securing MEAL resources and managing a
budget.

· Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner,
and to use innovative forms of communication. Proven capacity to supervise,
train and coach staff.

· Knowledge in computer skills required.
