Introduction*>
St Andrews Community Hospital is a non-profit making institution under the
Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi. The Hospital is a member of the Christian
Health Association of Malawi (CHAM). It offers inpatient and outpatient
services.

St Andrews Community Hospital would like to recruit suitably qualified
personnel to fill the following vacant position with immediate effect:

Position: ANAESTHETIC CLINICAL TECHNICIAN (Grade K) (1 position)

Key responsibilities

> Provision of anaesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
> Conducting pre-operative assessments, management of intra-operative and post-operative
complications of surgeries and anaesthesia.

> Performing routine and emergency medical and surgical procedures.
> Managing medical and trauma emergencies.
> Providing care and support to the critically ill patients that need specialized support.
> Supervising trainees and junior staff members.
> Supervising theatre and intensive care unit (I.C.U), report writing and record keeping, coordination
among the department, other hospital departments and relevant authorities.

> Providing oversight, support and supervision for theatre protocols to clinical and other technical staff
on both professional and managerial issues.

> Organizing, coordinating and monitoring activities of the theatre to ensure that the quality and
appropriateness of services meets the required standard.

Qualification and Requirements*>
• University or College Diploma in Anaesthesia obtained from a recognized
institution.
• Valid registration with the Medical Council of Malawi.
• Problem identification and solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication and observation skills.
• Ability to effectively work in a team.
