### Job Description

Deloitte’s client a limited liability company incorporated under the Companies
Act (Cap. 4603) of the Laws of Malawi, has the mandate of generating
electricity in Malawi. Its vision is ‘to create a better tomorrow for Malawi
through leadership in power generation.

The company is in the process of recruiting experienced, innovative, mature,
energetic and visionary individuals to fill a key position as follows

POSITION SENIOR LEGAL AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE OFFICER (GRADE EG5)

Reporting to Director of Corporate Services and Company Secretary

Tenable at Head Office Blantyre

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

> Carrying out the legal services function in line with the company’s set goals, policies and strategies
> Performing the role of legal counsel to the company and representing the company in court proceedings and actively participating in negotiations for major projects
> Ensuring the company’s compliance with all the requirements of the Company’s Act and Laws of Malawi as well as other statutes and any legal requirements relevant to the company’s operations and business
> Representing and guiding the legal services department/section in the strategic planning process
> Drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal instruments such as contracts, licenses, and other agreements for the company
> Managing and liaising with the company’s external legal counsel;
> Maintaining a database of the status of compliance in all regulatory matters affecting the company.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

> Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB Hons) from a recognized university;
> Five (5) years’ experience of post admission to the Malawi Bar and in possession of a valid legal practitioners practicing license
> Excellent interpersonal skills
> Experience in the power generation industry will be an added advantage
> High level of professionalism and team spirit
> Self-starter and able to work independently to meet deadlines
> Computer literate.
