### Role Overview

The Chemotherapy Access Officer, Cancer Access Partnership (CAP) will help to
expand access to high-quality, affordable cancer treatments by improving the
cancer drug supply chain and procurement processes. The Program Officer will
work closely with colleagues in the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP);
Pharmacy, Medicines, and Poisons Board (PMPB); Central Medical Stores Trust
(CMST); hospitals; and the CAP taskforce.

### Responsibilities

> Analyze chemotherapy and other cancer drugs’ pricing and associated procurement processes’ costs
> Conduct data collection and analytics in support of the national chemotherapy and cancer drug quantification process and develop a national supply plan
> Support CMST to tap into chemotherapy access pricing by helping to structure tender documents and monitor the implementation of procurement plans
> Assess supply chain and patient barriers to accessing treatment and develop recommendations to improve access to chemotherapy drugs and treatment
> Conduct modelling of projected commodity requirements for the next five years as Malawi continues to expand access to treatment
> Support the MoHP cancer unit in the implementation of the national cancer strategy priorities and operationalization of the national cancer treatment center
> Support fundraising and resource mobilization activities related to cancer
> Work with the team in the development of the annual CAP workplan, implement CAP activities as per the workplan and write a report
> Support other activities as assigned by immediate supervisor

### Skills and Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

> Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, health sciences, business management, marketing, supply chain or related field>
> Strong oral and written communication skills, as evidenced by experience in developing presentations, trainings, reports, articles, or other materials>
> Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical and international health, which may include quantification of drugs and/or commodities, supply chain, procurement, or the tender process in general>
> Experience in quantitative data analysis>
> Strong interpersonal skills>
> Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment>
> Excellent organizational skills>
> At least one year of experience working in a health and pharmaceutical logistics and supply chain
> Experience maintaining and cultivating relationships with external stakeholders, e.g. government agencies, donors, or other partner organizations
> Public speaking experience, such as through presentations, workshops, or trainings
> Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to ensure internal and external collaborators achieve a time-bound goal or project
> Ability to work proactively on a team
> Demonstrated competence in multi-tasking, working in a fast-paced environment, thinking strategically, and delivering measurable results

### About the Organization

CHAI is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing
the burden of disease in low- and middle-income countries, while strengthening
the capabilities of governments and the private sector in those countries to
create and sustain high quality health systems that can succeed without our
assistance.

In 2006, CHAI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government
of Malawi (GoM) to strengthen health systems in the most challenged districts,
provide national support to HIV/AIDS drug pricing and programmatic work,
support the pilot and scale-up of prevention of mother-to-child transmission
of HIV (PMTCT) initiatives, expand access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) for
children, strengthen Malawi’s lab system, and scale up an integrated nutrition
program for children. CHAI’s support to Malawi has expanded to include human
resources for health, vaccines, malaria, health financing, pediatric HIV and
tuberculosis (TB), and chemotherapy access partnership (CAP), among other
areas.
