#### INTRODUCTION
David Gordon Memorial Hospital (DGMH) was established in 1910 by Scottish
Missionaries. It is a Christian Mission Hospital under the CCAP Synod of
Livingstonia and affiliated to Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM).
The hospital is located in the Northern part of Rumphi District whose mission
is to seek, promote and provide excellent health-care services and proclaim
the good news of Jesus Christ.

JOB TITLE LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
GRADE K

#### JOB SUMMARY
The holder of the position will be reporting to The Head of Clinical
#### DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The general duties and responsibility of the will include the following
> Organizing work by matching computer orders with sorted and labelled specimen.
> Identifying abnormal patient conditions and alerting supervisory personnel, clinical officers, or nurses reporting mandated information to the designated officials.
> Identifying the presence or quantity of drugs of abuse, therapeutic drugs, and toxic substances.
> Providing quality test results for patient diagnosis and treatment by operating chemistry equipment, performing hand chemistries.
> Ensuring that the patient is receiving compatible blood/blood components.
> Assuring future retrieval of patient transfusion information by preparing patient packets and maintaining blood bank database.
> Ensuring safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
> Maintaining patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential.
> Daily instrument maintenance and quality control
> Collecting and interpreting of data
> Maintaining of accurate records and reporting of data
> You will also carry out any other duties assigned to you from time to time.
#### QUALIFICATION
> Applicants should be in possession a Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Diploma in Biomedical Sciences
> Must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi
> At least two years working experience in similar position
> Good Communication skills
> Ability to work under minimum supervision
> Honest
> Must be a devoted Christian
