#### VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – Project Manager

Creative Solutions for the Environment (CSE) preserves the environment through
organizing, educating and empowering rural communities to reforest, build
resilience, create alternative livelihoods and reduce poverty.

An opportunity has arisen for energetic and result oriented individual to fill
in the vacant post of Project Manager at our Lilongwe Office with frequent
travel to Balaka and Neno. The Project Manager will provide vision and
leadership to the project team to ensure project quality in implementation,
monitoring, evaluation, reporting, sharing of better practices in sustainable
agriculture, reforestation, education and girl and women empowerment. The
qualified candidate will be required to fill in the position on an immediate
basis.

#### Reporting & Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Project Manager will be
responsible for

> Program Implementation
> Leading the planning, organization/ facilitation and implementation of all programme activities at the community.
> Management of all resources and ensuring staff and partners’ compliance to CSE and donor policy, procedures for effective delivery of projects.
> Maintaining programmatic accountability for all program activities. Ensuring corresponding financial planning and management to support implementation in the project including annual and quarterly budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, procurement planning, and expense monitoring
> Oversee the measurement of project implementation progress in the two districts against benchmarks set in the project proposal documents, Annual Work Plans, the performance, Monitoring & evaluation plan and result framework.
> Supervise the implementation of data collection and monitoring tools, data compilation and reporting.
> Facilitating efficient and timely implementation of planned activities by all relevant committees; district and community partners to ensure the right techniques, methodologies and standards are employed.

#### Partnerships & Advocacy

> Strengthening collaboration, coordination, networking and partnerships with key stakeholders including government, CSOs and others.
> Identify funding/grant opportunities and help mobilize resources for CSE through staff development.
> Promoting local level advocacy in environmental matters, climate change and girl education.

#### Capacity building

> Developing and building capacity of staff, partners or local communities to perform at optimum levels necessary for quality program delivery and impact.
> Provide guidance, coaching and mentorship to project staff in the setting of their professional and personal development goals and manage performance planning and appraisals for project staff.

#### Program monitoring

> Provide technical support to the project team on implementation of development plans and development activities through monitoring and review sessions consistent with budgetary allocation and within the set time line.
> Lead and support project manager in preparing, implementing and monitoring annual, quarterly and monthly operational plans and budgets.

#### Qualifications and Experience

> Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management/ Agronomy/ Agroforestry/ Agriculture/Permaculture, Education or any other related field.
> Other course/diplomas such as Project Management will be an added advantage.
> Minimum 2 years work experience. Those with experience in agriculture or environmental management will have an added advantage.
> Proven experience (at least 1.5 years) with donor funded programs involving sub grantee management and stakeholders including government, civil society and community-based structures.
> Strong background in project planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation.
> Good knowledge of gender responsive programming, women and youth economic empowerment.
> Good computer skills of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

#### Job skills and requirements

The candidate will be required to demonstrate the following skills and

> Teamwork Must demonstrate excellent ability to work with staff at all levels in an organization;
> Time management to execute his/ her roles with efficiency and meet deadlines;
> Cultural sensitivity with people with diverse cultural background and values.
> Excellent written and communication skills
> Mature and independent to work under minimum supervision;
> A sense of orderliness to maintain Organizational records in an easy to follow and retrieve format;
> Flexibility Must be able to work in to areas hard hit by climate change•
