National Construction Industry Council (NCIC)
The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was created by the Malawi
Government through an Act of Parliament (Cap 5305) of the Laws of Malawi to
promote, regulate and develop the Construction Industry in Malawi.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following
vacant positions
DRIVER – (GRADE NC 9)
Tenable at the National Construction Industry Council Headquarters in
Lilongwe, the position is on permanent and pensionable terms. Reporting to the
Human Resources & Administration department, the requirements for the position
are as stipulated below
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
> Be aged 25 years and above;
> Possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) plus a valid driving license.
> At least 3 years working experience in a related field
> Demonstrated Experience working with Parastatal or similar organizations
> Ability to speak and understand English
> Ability to write simple reports
> Basic computer knowledge in excel and word an added advantage
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
> Driving of NCIC vehicles upon authorization in transporting authorized personnel including staff, visitors and stakeholders; ensuring precautionary measures for passengers and vehicles safety are adhered to;
> Movement of goods as advised by Supervisor and collection of and delivery of parcels/mails etc to/from Offices, Post Office and courier service providers;
> Ensure effective performance of Council vehicles by carrying out the day to day vehicle checks on cars assigned or vehicle being operated, that is, oil, water, battery, brakes, tires etc., as provided for in the Vehicle Policy;
> Reporting of maintenance faults to supervisor as per laid down procedure;
> Maintain vehicle log book regularly by logging details of each trip including mileage, fuel and oil consumption, destination and Program;
> Reporting of accident/incidents to supervisor and Traffic Police as per policy and procedure either immediately or within 24 hours;
> Adherence to traffic rules and regulations on speed limits, vehicle fitness and road worthiness as provided for in the laws of Malawi;
> Ensure Certificate of Fitness (COF), Road Tax and Insurance are up to date, and Supervisor is advised on renewals at least a month in advance. Also ensure driving license is valid;
> Ensure availability of security gadgets on the cars assigned or car being used alarm system or any immobilizer; as well as first aid kits, fire extinguishers and seat belts;
> Ensure fuel receipts are presented to Cashier’s office, soon after re-fueling or soon after getting back to the office after a trip and that such fuel is reflected on the vehicle log sheet.
