Summary

The U.S. Mission Lilongwe, Malawi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Security Investigator

The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week)

## Duties

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Conducts suitability and qualifications investigations, as well as plans and
conducts investigations of thefts, vehicle accidents, and other incidents
involving the U.S. Mission community. Acts as post’s liaison with local police
for training matters, to ensure protection of Embassy personnel and property
and during protective security operations. Performs clerical duties to support
above functions. Supports all programs as directed by the RSO.

1. 1. Prior Work Experience*> Three (3) years of experience with a military, police, private, or Government organizations conducting investigations and working with the public.

1. 1. Post Entry Training*> Training in U.S. Government investigative procedures and policies, as well as laws and regulations.

1. 1. Knowledge*> A working knowledge of investigation is required. Knowledge of host country law enforcement capabilities is required.

Education Requirements Completion of Secondary school is required. Completion
of one or more years of college-level study is desirable.

Evaluations LANGUAGE Level III (good working knowledge) written and spoken
English language skills are required. Fluency in host country language is
essential.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must possess a valid Class B driver’s license and pass a motor pool-administered driving test. Ability to manage the work of others in a team environment is required. Must have Program Management skills and organizational ability.
Qualifications

All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period for LE Staff.

Benefits

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs) and locally-resident EFMs working at the U.S. Mission Lilongwe, Malawi may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR
Office.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

1\. The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful
candidacy nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.

2\. Current employees of the Mission who have not successfully completed their
initial probationary periods are not eligible to apply. Current employees with
an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory or MBC score
of 100 points or less, on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR)
are not eligible to apply.

3\. Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family Member Appointment
(FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within
the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for
employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed
(WAE) or intermittent work schedule.

4\. Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one
year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to
apply for this position.
