The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join
our team as the –*> Nutrition Manager*> at any existing Save the
Children office location.

Scope

Reports to*> EHU Operations Lead- with a technical dotted line to nutrition
and health technical advisers

Staff reporting to this post*> NA (Whilst on Deployment Nutrition Officer,
Public Health Officer, Outreach teams)

Budget Responsibilities*> NA

Role Dimensions*>

This role will provide Nutrition expertise and leadership to the deployment of
EHU’s PHT modules (primary health clinic; diarrheal disease module; mass
vaccination) with particular focus on the appropriate preparedness and
prioritisation of nutrition programming for the PHT / EHU. You will provide
guidance and support to the Ops and Clinical lead on nutrition best practice
and approaches. You will also identify, train and supervise relevant EHU local
and national staff.

In order to be successful you will bring/have

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

> Strong experience and knowledge of wasting programming, treatment methods and screening
> Experience with the set-up and management of Stabilisation Centres
> Highly developed technical competencies in nutrition in emergencies, including infant and young child feeding (IYCF)
> Significant experience working internationally in nutrition programmes in a humanitarian context and previous first phase emergency response experience
> Previous experience of nutrition project management and programme coordination, implementing nutrition*> programmes within donor constraints, on time and within budget

> Experience working in the INGO sector, within complex/large scale country programmes and in emergency response/humanitarian environments.
> Experience of working with a diverse team and building relationships quickly, with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
> Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability and behaviour change communication experience
> Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills
> Ability to work both in an advisory and a hands-on implementation capacity
> Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff.

> Highly developed writing skills (e.g. at level for producing an assessment report or proposal during a short time period)
> Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) at a level appropriate for high level external representation (lobbying, presentations) and ability to tailor communications to different audiences

> Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
> The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
> Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. A good understanding of the Save the Children’s mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support

Desirable

> Strong knowledge of Save the Children systems and ways of working Understanding of CMAM innovations such as simplified treatment protocols and CHW management of wasting
> Understanding and delivery of MAMI
> Experience working with key institutional donors including ECHO, Global fund, USAID/OFDA.

> Proficiency in a 3rd nd language such as French, Spanish or Arabic
