PL FM and GD TV invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced
candidates to fill the following challenging positions
HEAD OF PROGRAMMES
Duties and Key Responsibilities
> Creates program schedules for PL FM and GD TV including screening, selecting and scheduling programs for inclusion in 24-hour broadcast schedules.
> Prepares and updates weekly/monthly program schedule by establishing program availability and determining the best time to air.
> Daily program management throughout the program life cycle.
> Planning the overall programs and monitoring the progress.
> Prepares and manages the programming budget
> Managing risks and issues and taking corrective measurements.
> Previews and evaluates local, unsolicited independent, regional and national radio and television programs to determine appropriateness for stations usage.
> Ensures program quality for broadcast by deciding whether program content is
> Responds to listeners and viewers questions, comments and complaints regarding radio and television programming/scheduling.
> Coordinates broadcast traffic and logging activities as it relates to program scheduling.
> Develops alternatives to planned schedule; authorizes last minute changes and replaces material.
> Participates in the development of stations goals, policies and procedures.
> Confers with marketing department to discuss content of programs scheduled to air; determines which programs to promote.
> Direct and monitor stations programming activities in conformance with Macra rules and regulations, company policy and all media laws
> Attract and grow audience share and revenue
> Coordinate with programming and sales and marketing staff to plan and execute marketing, promotions, events and image campaigns
> Identify, recruit, manage and coach on air staff and producers.
> Provides directions to presenters and producers on review and determines all commercial and paid programming content
> Schedules staff for on air shifts in liaison with FCC and production
Experience, Skills and Attributes
> Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. Those with a Masters Degree in Mass Communication shall be added advantage.
> At least 3-5 years of experience in Radio and Television Programming
> Knowledge of broadcasting rules and regulations (FCC)
> Skills in broadcast program evaluation.
> Skills in both verbal and written communication.
