Beit CURE International Hospital (BCIH) is a Christian mission hospital
providing free orthopedic health care for children in Beit CURE International
Hospital Malawi is a teaching hospital that specializes in treating the
orthopedic needs of children and adults. The hospital runs as a Christian
charity and margins made on adult health care help in providing free care to
the needy children of Malawi. The adult orthopedic service covers mostly the
common orthopedic conditions such as arthroscopy, total hip & knee replacement
and fracture fixation. The BCIH champions the cause of children and families
burdened with physically disabling conditions that can be corrected or
alleviated through surgical interventions. The integral mission for BCIH is

The BCIH in Malawi, situated along Chipatala Avenue-off Cannery Corner in
Blantyre, is planning to resume some of its operations and services that it
had suspended is seeking the services of well qualified and competent
individuals to fill the following vacant position
HEAD OF NURSING (1) (REF BCIH/21/01)
PURPOSE*>
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Head of Nursing Services
(HONS) will ensure that patients are cared for within the BCIHM health system,
receive compassionate, high quality health care. This involves strategic
overseeing and leadership over the Operating Theater In-charge, Private Ward
In-Charge, Pediatric, Ward In-Charge, other medical professionals and non-
clinical staff. The incumbent will be expected to create a collaborative and
efficient workplace with detailed attention to quality standards and be able
to contribute to the strategic and corporate direction and management of the
hospital The overall goal for the HONS will be to foster an excellent
environment that will support everyone in working to the benefit of hospital
and patients; hence achieving the set objectives and long-term goals for the
BCIHM nursing department This entails that the HONS will be an active
participant of the hospital Leadership Management Team to ensure that nursing
services are represented as an integral part of the patient care strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Masters’ Degree in Nursing from a qualified, recognized institution required; those with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with a post-graduate in Leadership and Management will also be considered
2. Registered Nurse, current license to practice with no restrictions;
3. At least 5 years’ experience in clinical nursing practice and at least 3-years experience in a senior managerial position;
4. Some experience in a paediatric surgical unit will be an added advantage
