An opportunity has arisen for PressCane Limited to appoint a new Chief
Executive Officer. The successful candidate is expected to report on 1st
September 2021. The position is tenable in Chikwawa District.

### The Company

PressCane Limited is a subsidiary of Press Corporation plc, a leading
conglomerate listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange. PressCane is Malawi’s
leading producer of fuel ethanol with fermentable sugars. Some of its
products, such as fuel ethanol, are used for blending with imported petrol
whilst others, such as hydrous alcohol, is used, among other applications, as
a solvent in the printing and pharmaceutical industries.

The Company is located at Dyeratu in Chikwawa District on the western shore of
the Shire River.

### The Position

The Chief Executive Officer is overall in charge of the day to day management
of the Company. The position reports to a Board of Directors which in turn
provides the necessary oversight and policy direction. The successful
candidate is expected to lead in the development and execution of the
Company’s strategy with a view to enhancing shareholder value.

### Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer include, but
are not restricted to

> Providing overall strategic leadership and management of the operations of the Company;
> Leading and overseeing the implementation of the Company’s short and long term plans in accordance with its approved Strategic Plan;
> Ensuring that agreed financial objectives and controls are implemented;
> Ensuring that the Company is appropriately organized and staffed to enable it to achieve its objectives;
> Building and maintaining a culture of excellence so as to ensure that the Company maintains its position on the pinnacle of the ethanol industry in Malawi;
> Developing and establishing business expansion initiatives;
> Leading in exploring measures to achieve feedstock availability and independence;
> Managing the budget and ensuring adherence to the approved annual budget of the Company;
> Developing new markets for ethanol both local and external.

Key Result Areas

The major accountabilities for the position include, but are not limited to,
the following

> Strategy Development Leading in the development and execution of the Company’s strategic and business plans to ensure that the Company achieves its growth and profitability targets;
> Business and Organisational Development Ensuring effective storage and distribution of ethanol products within the Malawi market and beyond;
> Quality Assurance Ensuring the provision of high quality products, produced in a safe and healthy environment;
> Team Building and Cultural Change Providing leadership in talent identification and change management so as to entrench ownership, culture and integrity values among employees;

### Desired Qualities and Competencies

The Chief Executive Officer will have the following demonstrable qualities and
skills

> Proven leadership skills Strong and demonstrable leadership to achieve transformational
change among staff, both culturally and commercially;

> Strategic Thinking The ability to analyse the Company’s competitive position and to be
innovative in problem solving;

> Business Acumen Ability to engage various stakeholders to expand the Company’s reach;
> Communication and Negotiation skills Ability to articulate the Company’s vision, enhance
team work and to negotiate business contracts.

### Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications

> A first degree and at least a Master’s Degree in Business/Finance/Engineering/ Chemical
Engineering from a recognised and accredited institution.

> At least seven (7) years’ experience at senior and strategic level, of which at least five (5)
must be either from the manufacturing; or retail; or marketing.

> Must possess a track record of increasing and sustaining sales growth and profitability even
in challenging market conditions.
