Society of Women Advancement in Malawi (SWAM) is a non- governmental, non-
political, non-profit making and self-governing organization that exists to
promote the participation of women and children by building their capacity to
exercise their rights while advocating to the advancement of women.
Programs Manager (One post) Tenable at the Secretariat (Plot No. 795,
Nyambadwe) Blantyre.
Reporting to*> The Country Coordinator
Key Responsibilities.
> Contribute to the further development of the projects following learning and evaluation. To coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate project activities.
> Facilitate capacity building of communities in Gender and Human Rights within Women Empowerment programming.
> In collaboration with the Finance Team Ensuring that SWAM financial recourses are utilized effectively and efficiently in line with agreed projects and Standardized SWAM procedures.
> Document projects reports for donors, media publication and general audience.
> Build collaborative and enhance networking with stakeholders
> Champion Advocacy initiatives for the Organization including Women Empowerment initiatives.
> Promote gender mainstreaming and Rights Based Approaches in the programs.
> Continuously contribute to SWAM’s resource mobilization initiatives for the Country Program growth.
> Develop the capacity of Organizations’ staff, communities and other stakeholders in Women Empowerment related issues.
> Mentoring and supervising organization’s projects staff; Project Officers and field officers.
> To undertake additional duties as delegated by the Country Coordinator.
Qualification
The candidate should have at least
> University degree or equivalent in related disciplines such as social sciences, humanities, public health or related discipline.
> Minimum of 5 years experience in Project Management with In-depth knowledge and understanding of Gender, Sexual Reproductive Health, Women Empowerment Programming at technical level.
> Excellent presentational skills including written, interpersonal and public speaking, negotiation and diplomatic skills, ability to facilitate trainings and the ability to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds.
> Computer Skills Strong with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.
> Ability to prioritize, work to tight deadline and work effectively within a team.
> Previous work in women and girls empowerment is an added advantage.
> Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive constructive attitude.
> Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities.
> Willingness to travel to communities Countrywide.
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
