Head of Consumer Banking (1)
Job Purpose
The Head of Consumer Banking is an executive management role that reports
directly to the Country Managing Director with a dotted reporting line to the
Group Head of Consumer Banking. The successful candidate will be responsible
for effectively leading and managing the Consumer banking portfolio and co-
ordinating all the relevant business sectors, products, services and resources
to achieve the agreed sales volume targets, revenues and profit. He/she will
also be accountable for the achievement of the overall performance of the
Consumer banking business within the acceptable risk, regulator, legal and
compliance framework
Key Responsibilities
• To develop, execute and manage the banks Consumer Banking Strategy in line
with a target market plan.
• Utilise the customer segmentation to drive growth and sustainability of
financials and revenues
• To Lead the banks’ digital agenda in the Consumer banking space
• Define and develop a Service-based Sales culture
• Grow a strong and healthy balance sheet through the appropriate mix of
deposits, risk assets, products, pricing and innovation to sustain customer
relationships and gain market share.
• Build and maintain productive relationships across units to support the
delivery of the Consumer Banking’s goals.
• Conduct competitor analysis regularly and advise Management on the
appropriate actions to be taken.
• Own and manage the strategic risks and governance issues in Consumer Banking
in line with Group policy and procedures.
• Ensure and own all legal and regulatory banking requirements, audits and any
other credit, risk or governance directives related to the consumer banking
portfolio.

• Strong business acumen & results oriented
• Excellent understanding of prevailing economic trends and how they impact
consumer banking
• Strong Selling skills and apt in product/ brand management
• Good Knowledge in Credit/Risk management
• Excellent presentation and relationship management skills
• People management skills
• Goal oriented and results driven
Experience & Qualifications
• At least 8 years’ experience in a leadership role in consumer banking.
• Sound business and people development performance record
• Strong knowledge of digital and e-Banking products and channels
• High level of national exposure and ability to negotiate with client
organizations at a national decision-making level.
• Sales and marketing experience in the FMCG or the Telecom industry will be
an advantage
• A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree preferably in Economics, Business
Administration, Accounting, Marketing, or related field of study.
