NEST360*> *> 0 *> (Newborn Essential Solutions and Technologies)*> is a
15-partner collaboration in four African countries (Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania
and Nigeria) to innovate, implement, and evaluate a health systems package to
improve hospital care for small and sick newborns. LSHTM leads the complex
evaluation of mortality and implementation, as well as the economic and
investment assessment.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Professor in Qualitative Health
Systems*> to *> support the health systems workstream of the overall NEST360
complex evaluation in measuring “implementation strength” of a multi-faceted
intervention spanning the health system building blocks. You will lead a
multi-country qualitative working group, enabling and supporting locally-led
teams in technical analyses and writing, as well as leading analyses and
writing for some aspects. Strong health systems analyses, synthesis, and
qualitative skills are required, with experience working in government systems
and with routine data.

You will have a PhD in a relevant field, advanced skills in qualitative study
design, data collection, management, sampling, and analysis, discussion-guide
development, and in the use of qualitative data analysis software such as
Nvivo, Dedoose, ATLAS TI, and/or Max QDA. You will have practical experience
of effectively managing teams, and field experience in conducting research in
LMICs. You will establish and maintain effective working relationships in a
multicultural and multidisciplinary environment, and have the ability to
communicate and negotiate at all levels. Further details may be found in the

The post is full time and fixed-term for 15 months and can be based in London,
Kenya or Malawi.

The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade 7 in the range £46,704 –
£53,465 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to
the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30
working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there
are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is
available.
