POSITION BURSAR (FINANCE OFFICER)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Children of the Nations is a duly registered NGO in Malawi with a mission to
raise children who transform Nations. It partners with nationals to provide
Christ-centered care for orphaned and destitute
children, enabling them to create a positive and lasting change in their
nations.
In order to fulfil its vision effectively and excellently, opportunities have
arisen to engage qualified person of Malawian origin to fill posts tenable at
as head office in Lilongwe. COTN therefore, invites
applications from suitable candidates to fill the positions on a two year
contracts renewable upon successful performance appraisals and availability of
funds.
Bursar (Finance Officer)
Position Summary
The Bursar will partner with the COTN-MW ICA Principal and Director of Finance
and Administration in the management of ICA budget, procurement and payment of
supplies and setup of financial procedures. The Bursar will be responsible for
providing effective financial leadership at International Christian Academy by
ensuring successful implementation of financial goals, objectives and
activities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee day to day cash management
Keep organized books of tuition fees and files of receipts
Prepare expenses reports on a regular basis
Design and update financial procedures
Collaborate with the ICA Principal in creating and implementing annual and
strategic goals and budgets for ICA who will overseeing day to day cash
management
Create and maintain an effective Financial Management System and practices for
the institution
Create and implement an annual and strategic school maintenance plan for the
Academy
Collaborate with the ICA Principal and National Education Coordinator in
implementing COTNI Education Financial SOS and Malawi Ministry of Education
policies, policies Stands of Services and goals
Create and share weekly updates, monthly reports, term reports, annual reports
to the Principal, National Education Coordinator and Director of Finance
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competences
QuickBooks Management
Diploma in Financial Accounting
Proven two years’ work experience as an accountant, those with proven working
competency and experience as Bursar might have an added advantage
Computer literacy (MS Excel in particular)
Knowledge of accounting procedures and best practices
Spiritually mature, honest, transparency and able to keep confidentiality of
critical office details
