Lilongwe Water Board
The Lilongwe Water Board is a Statutory Corporation established in 1947 and
re-established under the Water Works Act (Cap 72). It is responsible for the
provision of water supply services to the City of Lilongwe and other
surrounding areas designated as its supply area. The Board is inviting
applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawian origin to fill the
vacant positions that exist at its Head Office, Madzi House, off Likuni Road
in Lilongwe.
ASSET MANAGEMENT OFFICER
Purpose of the Job
Asset Management Officer will be reporting to the Infrastructure Planning
Engineer and will be responsible for the development and implementation of a
long-term strategies for the organization’s physical assets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
> Maintaining, expanding and overseeing an effective condition-based asset management program
> Collaborating with Engineering, Finance, production and Distribution and other City Departments and governmental agencies to leverage asset management data
> Preparing control strategies to reduce risk and improve asset utilization, determine predictive strategies, perform root cause failure analysis to reduce down time and increase efficiency
> Establishing and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, building an effective asset risk mitigation program to improve asset reliability with reduced risk at optimized spending and capital investments
> Preparing and maintaining of asset management plans
> Compiling asset inventory and condition data into a format to allow for engineering analysis of life-cycle costs and business risk evaluation
> Monitoring and communicating Asset Performance through reporting including life cycle analysis, asset performance analysis for capital and operations & maintenance funding and other analysis required for engineering, operations and maintenance
> Preparing reports, estimating costs, presentations and determining individual project needs
> Assist in forecasting and developing the Capital, Operations and Maintenance budgets
> Preparing manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, and other guidance documents
> Assisting in identifying priorities for improvement taking into account the condition of the assets and assist the Infrastructure Planning Engineer in implementing and reviewing programmes of work accordingly
> Demonstrating outstanding commitment to service delivery programs of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts\/leakages to customer care Division of which verifiable repair records shall be used during performance appraisal as one of the components to be assessed for time.
Minimum Qualification and Experience
> Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
> Experience in the field of asset management for at least four (4) years. Knowledge of Asset Management Software will be an added advantage.
