Pirimiti Hospital is one of the fastest growing hospitals under Zomba Diocese.
The Hospital’s mission is to continue the healing Ministry of Christ,
promotion of human life, the provision of preventive, curative and
rehabilitative services in holistic manner in accordance with the needs of the
communities and call to compassion and having respect for dignity of the
person in line with Catholic core values and principles. To achieve its
Mission Statement, the Hospital is inviting applications from suitably
qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position.
1\. Job Title Medical Officer
Grade H
Location Pirimiti Hospital
Department Clinical
5\. Direct Reporting Officer Principal Medical Officer .
Supervision Exercised Clinical Technicians, Lab Technicians, Anaesthetic
Technicians, Radiographers, Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Assistants and Dental
Technician.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Carrying out basic surgical and obstetric/gynaecological procedures and
attending to theatre emergencies
Provide direction and leadership in the facilitation and implementation of
Clinical standards and procedures
Conducting regular ward rounds of admitted patients to review possible
discharges, treatment and any other related management.
Conducting regular outpatient clinics
Participate in the night calls
Conducting audits of patient files to monitor patients care
Planning and preparing sound programs for the department, consequently
monitoring and evaluating implementation.
Assisting the Principal Medical Officer periodically produce rota to ensure
that all departments are covered.
Assist the supervision of clinical staff performance and consequently conduct
performance evaluation biannually in consultation with Human Resource
Department.
Planning and preparing sound programmes for the department consequently
monitoring and evaluating implementation
Facilitate monthly and quarterly meetings for all Clinical cadres
Ensuring correct and complete recording of data in relevant HMIS registers and
instruments
Ensuring timely processing of data and dissemination to all relevant
stakeholders including timely submission of HIMS and departmental reports to
designated supervisor
Performing routine monitoring of health indicators and using information in
planning and management of health services
Lobbies with the Principal Medical Officer and ensure that required equipment
is available and equitably distributed to meet hospital standards.
Identify staff training needs and monitors the implementation of continuous
professional development of clinical staff
Ensure that all Clinical Staff are practicing legally and that they are duly
registered with their respective regulatory Bodies
Taking a leading role in identifying training needs for the clinical
department and liaising with the Principal Medical Officer to be included in
the annual training plan
Any other lawful duties assigned from time to time
Qualifications
MBBS
Registered with Medical Council of Malawi
Knowledge, Ability and Skills
Well conversant with the Health system in Malawi, ability to lead a team and
problem identification and solving skill
