will focus on the expansion of existing commercial/off-taker models in high

This is a 5-year, £13m contract expected to run from April 2021 to March 2026.
The VC component is one of the three components in the 5-year, £95m MTIP

this type of work, a well-established office and a legal entity through
delivery of the DFID Malawi VAWG programme.

The Position

> Overall oversight of and responsibility for the successful delivery of the MTIP-VC programme.
> Strategic planning and technical leadership, e.g. developing and updating work plans, setting ambitious yet achievable targets for the programme, ensuring quality and on-time delivery throughout the programme duration, regularly monitoring progress, continuous learning and adaptation as the programme develops.
> Lead on stakeholder engagement on the ground, including key players in the private sector and the Government of Malawi, as well as FCDO Malawi, AgDevCo and TMEA.

> Lead and manage an ambitious project team consisting of experienced local and international full-time employees, and also short-term technical advisers.
> Engage effectively with the consortium partners and provide regular progress updates to all parties involved.
> Work effectively with Tetra Tech International Development Europe’s PMU based in London, UK.

The Person

Essential

> Effective leader and manager, both of projects and people.
> Track record of managing large-scale, multi-million donor-funded private sector development programmes, ideally for FCDO/DFID, with demonstrated results and impact.
> Significant experience and strong technical understanding of private sector development, high-value agricultural value chains, investment, trade and exports, as well as local policy and regulatory environments.
> Regional experience in Southern Africa.
> Experience in working with and identifying large-scale agricultural players for partnership opportunities/off-taker models.
> Entrepreneurial and innovative approach to market systems development.
> Ability to manage a wide range of private and public stakeholder, with strong interpersonal skills.
> Clear communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal.
> An advanced university degree (or equivalent) in the fields of International Development, Economics, Management, or others as relevant
