Job Purpose
To ensure that product purchases are paid accurately and on time and that
these, together with product Stock are correctly recorded in the general
ledger.
Principal accountabilities
> Verifying sales reports to sales recorded in the general ledger. Investigating and correcting discrepancies as necessary including late/overdue delivery confirmations.
> Verifying product despatches to movements in the Product-movement report. Investigating and correcting discrepancies as necessary.
> Reviewing and reconciling stock in transit accounts and ensuring that these are cleared as and when transactions are completed.
> Reviewing invoices and sales returns for discrepancies and reporting these to the Controller as necessary for investigation and follow up.
> Calculating ambient sales volumes by product and comparing these with volumes at standard temperature in the SMS system. Investigating discrepancies where necessary.
> Reviewing monthly stock gains/losses and ensuring that these are within tolerances and are approved and booked by the appropriate authority.
> Ensure that stock accounts reconcile within ECS and between ECS and the General ledger.
> Investigate integrity reports and ensure that discrepancies are cleared.
> Reviewing/preparing the month end stock valuations on a FIFO and CCS basis and then validating the COST of sales
> Updates product cost in SAP based on monthly Slate details
Competencies required
> Accounting Policies and Standards
> Applying Accounting Principles
> Generic Amounting Practices
> Assure Correctness and integrity of Accounts
> Discharging Corporate Obligations
> Local statutory Accounting and Reporting
> Knowledge of Accounting Systems
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experiences
> Finance degree, economics degree or qualified accountant
> Finance experience of not less than 5 years
> Good systems skills and knowledge of ERP processing systems
> Fluent in English
> Good communications influencing and networking skills
> Ability to self-starter
