Lilongwe Water Board

The Lilongwe Water Board is a Statutory Corporation established in 1947 and
re-established under the Water Works Act (Cap 72). It is responsible for the
provision of water supply services to the City of Lilongwe and other
surrounding areas designated as its supply area. The Board is inviting
applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawian origin to fill the
vacant positions that exist at its Head Office, Madzi House, off Likuni Road
in Lilongwe.

CUSTOMER CARE AND PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER

Job Purpose

The Customer Care and Public Relations Manager will be reporting to the Chief
Executive Officer and will be required to provide strategic leadership and
management in relation to customer care services, public relations policies,
work programs and plans as approved by the Board.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

> Formulating and reviewing customer service and public relations policies, procedures, standards and processes between the Board and its stakeholders
> Developing and implementing plans, programs, projects and budgets based on priorities within the allocated resources
> Creating and maintaining a positive corporate image of the Board and promoting the interest of stakeholders
> Designing and implementing awareness campaign programs to educate the public in terms of their rights and obligations as water users
> Coordinating the management of complaints, complements and water burst/leakage reports in liaison with appropriate Departments, Divisions, Zones and Sections
> Advocating the use of appropriate complaint handling procedures
> Serving as a spokesperson of the Board
> Providing relevant and up to date information to stakeholders and members of the public
> Enforcing positive stakeholder feedback process that ensures timely handling of complaints, complements, and water burst/leakage reports and stakeholders suggestions for effective image of the Board
> Representing the Board on customer service and public relations matters
> Responding to enquiries from the public, media and other organizations
> Planning public relations programs including the preparation of cost budgets
> Overseeing the production of visual, audio and electronic materials including managing the Board’s website
> Supervising and appraising staff under his/her charge
> Preparing reports on operations of the Division
> Demonstrating outstanding commitment to service delivery programs of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts/leakages of which verifiable repair records shall be tendered to be used as one of the components for assessment during one’s performance appraisal time.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

> Master’s Degree in Public Relations/ Mass Communication/ Business Administration/ Marketing and at least five (5) years post qualification experience backed by a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in any of the above mentioned fields.
