Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) is a countrywide humanitarian volunteer
organization and a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies movement. In Malawi, it was established in 1932 by an Act
of Parliament and works auxiliary to the Government and embodies the
principles of the movement. It focuses on providing Humanitarian Services to
the needy and vulnerable populations. MRCS has more than 260 staff members and
a network of local volunteers in 33 Divisions in all the 3 regions of Malawi.
Its Headquarters is in Area 14, in Lilongwe.
MRCS is now inviting applications of qualified candidates for the following
positions
DRIVERS
*> Purpose
The Driver provides logistical/transport/office support to the district team
which includes maintaining office vehicle(s), ensuring that the vehicle
policies are adhered to, timely fuel reconciliation and reports, and other
logistic duties as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
> Driving MRCS office vehicle or leased vehicles on official trips as necessary.
> Ensuring that ALL passengers wear seat belts at ALL times.
> Ensure adherence to MRCS’s vehicle policies at all times including operating hours, speed limits, logging of mileage and fuel, etc.
> Maintaining a valid driver’s license at all times and abide by Malawi driving rules and regulations, and ensure that office vehicle meets legal requirements e.g. insurance.
> Ensuring that the office vehicle has necessary equipment like spare tires, lifesavers, toolbox, first aid kit, etc. and is kept clean at all times.
> Assisting in packing training materials and/or supplies for field travel, and while in the field, will assist the MRCS team with other tasks and errands.
> Informing the Logistics Manager or responsible officer in good time when service (minor/major) is due for vehicles, when repairs are required and when insurance is to be renewed.
> Performing office errands either using the office vehicle or by public transport as need arises, and assist with office functions (e.g. photocopying, binding, packing) as needed.
> Conducting other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements*>
> Must have at least Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
> A holder of a valid SADC Driving License; Those with Defensive Driving Certificate will have added advantage.
> Minimum of three years experience in a busy environment.
> Willingness to live and work over weekend (old hrs) and in rural areas.
