INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
An opportunity to intern arisen at the National Youth
Council of Malawi (NYCOM). National youth Council of Malawi was established by
an Act of parliament No.22 of 1996, with the mandate to coordinate, promote,
stimulate and support youth programs in Malawi.
NYCOM invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for above
mentioned role as detailed below
POST Intern- Communications and Advocacy
Positions 1
Location Lilongwe
Summary of duties
> Under the direction of the Communications and
Advocacy Officer, the intern shall coordinate activities
undertaken by the communications department
pertaining to promoting the capacity for effective
communication with stakeholders and enhancing
visibility of the NYCOM brand.
Responsibilities
> Writing and promoting NYcOM success stories through its affiliates
> Managing the organization’s social media pages and website.
> Monitor the implementation of the communications strategy
> Participate in developing stories and designing of the Youth Link newsletter
Required Skills and Qualification
> Bachelors Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies or IT
> Excellent graphic designing skills
Video and audio editing
> Technological savvy with excellent social media management skills, ie. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
Excellent oral and written communication skills, up to date with a strong eye
to detail
> Those with web designing and management skills will have an added advantage.
Other attributes
> High aptitude with an ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing environment
> Highly engaged young person, open minded with good understanding of multiculturalism, diversity,
inclusion as well as gender and social issues.
> A mature self-starter with high organizational skills
who adheres to strict deadlines
> Passionate about youth development and empowerment, with a good knowledge of advocacy and policy
