Lilongwe Water Board
The Lilongwe Water Board is a Statutory Corporation established in 1947 and
re-established under the Water Works Act (Cap 72). It is responsible for the
provision of water supply services to the City of Lilongwe and other
surrounding areas designated as its supply area. The Board is inviting
applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawian origin to fill the
vacant positions that exist at its Head Office, Madzi House, off Likuni Road
in Lilongwe.
NON-REVENUE WATER OFFICER (COMMERCIAL LOSSES)
Purpose of the Job
The Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Officer will be reporting to the Non-Revenue Water
Manager and will be responsible for the management of Non-Revenue Water
reduction Commercial Losses.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
> Taking a leading role in tracking of parameters contributing to NRW commercial losses both at Zone and corporate level
> Facilitating the implementation of the developed NRW commercial losses reduction strategy in liaison with the Zones, Revenue Accounts and Customer Relations Divisions
> Tracking implementation progress of the NRW commercial losses reduction strategy both at Zone and corporate level
> Preparing NRW commercial losses reduction progress/performance reports at Zone and corporate levels on a monthly basis
> Analysing water consumption and billing trends from the billing system for purposes of tracking NRW movements and share the analytical reports with the Zones
> Building capacity of the Zones to reduce NRW commercial losses to allowable levels
> Developing customer feedback system, in liaison with Customer Relations, for NRW commercial losses factors
> Monitoring performance of NRW commercial losses interventions by developing performance indicators and monitoring program through a logical framework
> Responding to queries on matters relating to NRW commercial losses
> Maintaining an inventory of the age of water meters and prepare and implement meter replacement programs for aged water meters
> Developing, implementing and monitoring strategies aimed at illuminating illegal connection or water theft including tip-off anonymous programs, house to house surveys, partnerships with intelligence organs, etc.
> Conducting house to house surveys on a regular basis in DMAs with high commercial losses
> Demonstrating outstanding commitment to service delivery programs of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts/leakages to customer care Division of which verifiable repair records shall be used during performance appraisal as one of the components to be assessed for time.
Minimum Qualification and Experience
A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/ ACCA plus four (4) years’
experience.
