Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) is a countrywide humanitarian volunteer
organization and a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies movement. In Malawi, it was established in 1932 by an Act
of Parliament and works auxiliary to the Government and embodies the
principles of the movement. It focuses on providing Humanitarian Services to
the needy and vulnerable populations. MRCS has more than 260 staff members and
a network of local volunteers in 33 Divisions in all the 3 regions of Malawi.
Its Headquarters is in Area 14, in Lilongwe.
MRCS is now inviting applications of qualified candidates for the following
position
PROJECT OFFICERS
Purpose
Reporting to the District Coordinator and provides overall co-ordination of
the Project at district level in liaison with district stakeholders. . S/he
will provide leadership and guidance for the smooth implementation, management
of project activities, and funds and supervises all staff in the field and
volunteers focusing on a relevant project
Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
> The District Project Officer is responsible for initiating, managing and implementation of successful project
> Developing weekly , monthly district operation plans and consolidating weekly implementation plans.
> Monitoring programme development and determining strategic opportunities at District levels, coordinating closely with the MRCS B various stakeholders
> Ensuring that programme funds are being used in the most efficient and appropriate manner in line with programme action plans and financial management procedures.
> Working closely with community development committees, government, district and representatives of other NGOs within the project area.
> Supervising and providing technical and moral support to subordinates and volunteers.
> Monitor and supervise CDF`S providing continuous technical support on implementation gaps
> Ensure that communities are at actively engaged throughout the project life cycle
> Prepare cash requests for project activities and ensure that project finance transactions are done as per the set MRCS finance procedures and guidelines
> Ensure that project funds are being used in the most efficient and appropriate manner in line with project action plans and financial management procedures. .
> Facilitate trainings where necessary or outsource specialized trainers in those fields.
> Oversee and ensure quality and meaningful community engagement and accountability (CEA) integration at all levels of project implementation
Education and Relevant Experience
Required
> Bachelors Degree in health and other related fields
> 3years’ experience in similar positions
> Skills in computer, Microsoft excel, Word and Internet is essential
> Programme Financial Management.
> Experience in project Monitoring and Evaluation.
