Volunteer Opportunity!
REMOTE-LEARNING VOLUNTEERS
Ladder to Learning (L2L) is a grassroots organisation working to amplify the
learning experience in public primary schools through educational services
that complement the school curriculum in Malawi. We center around literacy
improvement by increasing students’ access to children’s literature, remedial
reading classes, reading clubs, tech gadgets and other relevant learning
resources.
We set up Literacy Hubs where we run after school programs aimed at improving
students’ literacy skills and performance outcomes.
L2L with support from Segal Family Foundation is implementing a remote
learning project which aims to complement the efforts of the Ministry of
Education in providing learning services to students during the covid-19
pandemic. The project will be implemented in 2 schools, Lilongwe LEA and Biwi
LEA.
L2L therefore seeks to recruit remote learning volunteers that will provide
support to the project.
Key responsibilities
-Student data collection
-Enroll students in the remote learning project
-Distribution of learning materials to students
-Tutoring students enrolled on the project
-Making follow-up phone calls/visits to parents/guardians of students enrolled
-Tracking parental involvement
-Assessing work done by students
-Any other related duties assigned by supervisor
Desirable Qualifications
-Malawi School Certificate of Education with credit in Mathematics and English
-Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English
Other Requirements
The volunteer must
-Enjoy working with children
-Reside within Lilongwe
Be above 18 years old
