## ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting
hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position
under the WFP Supply Chain unit. The position will be based at our WFP Malawi
Country Office in Lilongwe. The Internship will be for an initial period of
two months .
## KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Supply Chain, the Supply Chain
Assistant intern will be responsible for supporting supply chain activities.
MAJOR TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated
authority) *>
Human Resources support within the Supply Chain unit
• Support HR operational activities, projects, recruitment processes that are
aligned to business needs, following standard processes.
• Support staff capability building, working with managers to understand
individual skills and business requirements, and organizing development
solutions which equip people with the skills and knowledge required to meet
current and future challenges.
• Support and deliver onboarding activities to ensure new employees have a
positive experience of WFP, and are successfully integrated into their new
role and the organization.
• Support for organizational design activities that enable senior management
to define and organize structures and jobs, and allocate people to the right
places in order to improve efficiency.
• Other as required and related to Human Resources support within the Supply
Chain unit.

Supply Chain and Logistics operations
• Support the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance
with wider logistics policies and WFP standards.
• Support logistics projects or operational day-to-day activities following
standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective
delivery of assistance to beneficiaries.
• Support the collect and analyse data through research and networking with
colleagues to recommend actions to the supervisor to improve performance of
local logistics operations.
• Support the collect of data and contribute to preparation of accurate and
timely reporting, supporting a WFP wide view of logistics activities that
enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to
stakeholders.
• Identify and build productive relationships with logistics colleagues and
staff within the area of assignment to support an integrated approach
assistance.
• Support the emergency logistics preparedness team to ensure WFP is able to
quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to affected areas at the
onset of the crisis.
• Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency
assistance needs.

Procurement
• Support procurement team and programs / operational activities, (e.g. issue
tenders, evaluate offers and negotiate/award contracts), following standard
processes and contributing to successful procurement of food and non-food
commodities or services.
• Support analysis of data to provide recommendations for process improvement.
• Support data collection and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely
reports of procurement activities, to contribute to a WFP wide view that
enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to
stakeholders, leading to performance optimization.
• Work in close collaboration with internal counterparts to align procurement
activities with wider programmes and ensure a coherent approach to meeting
assistance needs.
• Other as required
## STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education*> Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the
last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of
undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months.
Knowledge and Skills*> Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power
Point);
Language*> Fluency in both oral and written communication in English.
Knowledge of the local language or UN official language is an added advantage.
## TERMS AND CONDITIONS
> Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
> WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
> Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
> WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;

UN Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ),
International Civil Service Commission (ICSC), FAO Finance Committee, WFP
External Auditor, WFP Audit Committee, Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) and other
similar bodies within the United Nations system with oversight
responsibilities over WFP, both during their service and within three years of
ceasing that service.
