Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS)
The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is a Statutory Organization established
in 1972 by an Act of Parliament, with a mandate to promote standardization of
commodities and their manufacture, production processing or treatment and to
provide for the verification and calibration of weighing and measuring
instruments; and further to provide for matters incidental to or connected
with standardization.
To beef up its operations, the Malawi Bureau of Standards seeks to recruit the
services of suitably qualified individuals to fill the following vacant posts
tenable at its Head Office in Blantyre.
Information and Communication Technology Technician (Temporary)*>
Grade BS7
Reporting to Information Communication Technology Officer
No. of Positions One
Duty Station Head Office
Job Purpose
To provide ICT user support services.
Main Duties*>
a) Maintaining and repairing of IT hardware and software;
b) Installing and updating of hardware and software;
c) Trouble shooting network system and solving hardware/ software errors;
d) Maintaining an efficient and effective email and internet access;
e) Identifying of IT needs in each financial year;
f) Designing and typesetting small jobs submitted for processing;
g) Assisting users in backing up user systems and data files;
h) Servicing and cleaning up computer viruses periodically;
i) Training and assisting users in proper usage of ICT equipment;
j) Maintaining a register on IT services rendered to users including
replacement of parts of IT equipment;
k) Preparing quarterly reports;
l) Preparing individual work plan.
Education Qualifications and Experience Required*>
At least a Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Studies, Information &
Communication Technology or Information Systems with two years relevant work
experience.
